butylfuel™ LLC is a biorefining and industrial biotechnology company focused on producing high value C4chemicals, fuels and energy from renewable carbon resources.

We have a long history in bio-based chemistry. We are recognized as the pioneer in biobutanol, dating back to 1991 when our founder, David Ramey, began his efforts to publicize the potential of biobutanol as an alternative fuel. From our patented intellectual property and proprietary know-how, to our breakthrough process technology and state-of-the-art pilot facility near Columbus, Ohio . . . butylfuel™ LLC has been leading the way on bio-based value added products.

We still are.

Our leadership team has over a century of combined biotechnology, biochemistry and biofuels experience, with more than 400 million gallons of biofuels brought onto the market by our team. Our patents and proprietary know-how will allow us to generate low-cost biobutanol and carboxylic acids from a variety of renewable biomass sources. Our focus is on lignocellulosic biomass, such as wood, prairie grasses, and corn stover. We also have the ability to convert low cost sugar crops such as sweet sorghum, sugar beets and cereal grains.

Our Ohio pilot facility is demonstrating each day the ability to produce butyric acid and butanol at costs competitive with petro-based processes.

Our leadership team has the experience and know-how to build and operate bio-processing ABE production facilities now. Our process technology is being developed at pilot scale, and we’re scaling our technology for our first plant. We’re looking for the right collaboration partners to share our journey.

With over a century of combined experience in industrial biotechnology and biochemistry, our leadership team has a proven track record of results.

We will be a leading provider of technology to the biorefining industry in producing low-cost bio-based chemicals and biofuels.

We are only as successful as our collaborations, and we understand that the sum is greater than the parts . We are looking for partners.
